Located in Western Estonia, Haapsalu has gained recognition primarily as a quiet summer town and as a mud therapy resort. The city is considered the sunniest resort in Estonia. Haapsalu is also one of the oldest cities in Estonia due to its age of more than 700 years.

You can play tennis, golf and bowling. It is nice to walk in the Paralepa park forest and Paralepa beach, or instead take a cane walk on the Paralepa-Pullapää educational trail (about 8km). Young people can practice their roller skating and cycling skill at Paralepa skate park

SIGHTSEEING IN HAAPSALU

Haapsalu Bishop`s Castle

You should definitely visit Haapsalu Bishop`s castle, which is known for Estonia`s most famous ghost, The White Lady, who appears in the window of the cathedral baptismal chapel every year during the full moon of August.

Haapsalu Kuursaal and Promenade

The wooden lacy Haapsalu Kuursaal built in 1898 on the seaside promenade, is the only one in Estonia preserved in its original form and still works as a summer restaurant. Kuursaal is located on the Haapsalu promenade, which is ideal for walking or just sitting on a bench and enjoying the sunset. Don`t forget to check your watch at the sundial, and on the bench of the world-famous composer Tchaikovsky, it`s worth listening to his famous musical works and letting your thoughts fly while looking at the sea. The promenade has a children`s playground and city`s only bird-watching tower. Behind the hall you will find a statue of Carl Hunnius, the discoverer of the medicinal mud in Haapsalu.

Haapsalu Railway station

The under-roof platform of the Railways Station, built at the beginning of the century, was the longest in Europe. The Estonian Railway Museum is located in one part of the station building and on the tracks. The station building is under national protection as an architectural monument.
